What to do with it
- Play along. The key and tempo are printed on the panel. Open any instrument in another tab and find the notes by ear — that is the whole exercise.
- Take it apart. Open it in the Studio and mute tracks one at a time to hear what each one was doing. A bassline alone is a different animal.
- Make it yours. Change the key, swap the drum kit, throw away the melody and write your own over the chords. Nothing here is precious — there is another one tomorrow.
Where it comes from
The same generator that powers the generator page: a genre picks its drum kit, its bass and chord styles and its scale, and a seeded roll arranges eight to sixteen bars with an intro, a lift and an ending. The only difference is the seed — instead of rolling a random one, the daily riff derives it from the date, so it is identical for every visitor and reproducible forever. Ask for a particular day and you will always get that day's music back.
